A server veteran at lvl 200 with all skills capped could one shot any new player regardless of their armour, and they tank any newer player's weaker firearms for days. PVP is a problem in that 7daystodie's current progression system is far too large and this, is not inclusive to new players. PVE has player economics and generally reduces the intended difficulty of the game even further. In fact, one could argue a single player could consume a large portion of these one time resources on a map given enough time.ДЇinally, PVP and PVE servers have their own shares of problems that seperately hurt player activity in the long run. Cars, shopping carts, prefab valuables like chemistry stations and work benches, office chairs, and all those other wrenchable goodies are a one time deal that never refresh. For example, brass lighting fixtures and tires on the ground can only be harvested once.

It requires new players to move out further and further out if they want to be afforded certain luxuries. Which makes end-game sustainability for new players less feasible as time goes by. Meaning less effort goes into looting as time goes by and players explore more of the map. Prefabs looted by other people have all the locks broken. Giving people access to easy rich looting points that refresh much more often then they should. Loot containers can be re-looted every 30 in game days by default. People can and will log out during 7 day hordes if they have no intention of fighting the horde. (It's the same for games like Terraria.) For one, many aspects of challenge intended in 7daystodie are bypassed in a multiplayer environment. I'd say the problem is 7daystodie at it's core does not really function on a large scale playerbase. So the real question is why isn't there a stronger online presense? Or at least larger communitites among individual servers? Rather I'm just redefining your question. But I won't use the fact that your question is inaccurate as an excuse to ignore your original intent. It's wrong because your assertion that the game is dead is without a doubt false.
